Smoke Begins Streaming on Apple TV+ With Two-Episode Premiere

Smoke has premiered on Apple TV+ today, kicking off the series with two episodes available to stream.

The series is described as a crime drama inspired by true events, constructed as a miniseries. Smoke stars Taron Egerton as Dave Gudsen, an arson investigator who teams up with a detective to track down two serial arsonists in the Pacific Northwest.

Dennis Lehane created the series and is largely inspired by Firebug, a podcast about arsonist John Leonard Orr. Lehane is also behind Apple TV+ limited series Black Bird, which stars Paul Walter Hauser, with Egerton appearing in the cast as well. As it appears as though Lehane and Apple have tapped into a long-standing partnership, the creator has an overall deal with Apple Studios to create new productions.

Smoke also stars the likes of Jurnee Smollett, John Leguizamo, Rafe Spall, Greg Kinnear, Hannah Emily Anderson, and Dakota Daulby.

From the trailer’s official description: “Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett attempt to get as close to the truth as possible—without getting burned.”

Smoke premieres with two episodes now available to stream. Moving forward, a new episode streams every Friday, leading up to its Episode 9 finale on August 15th.

Apple TV+ is available in Canada for $12.99 per month.
