Limited Edition Ghost of Yōtei PlayStation 5 Console Designs Revealed, Available October 2

PlayStation has revealed new Ghost of Yōtei limited edition console designs and a DualSense Wireless controller. The launch of these new accessories coincides with the release of Sucker Punch’s highly anticipated new game.
The Ghost of Yōtei limited edition PlayStation 5 console products are inspired by the fictional location of Ezo (which is now known as Hokkaido). In the game, players will explore the region, including Mt. Yōtei, a mountain range that holds significance within Ezo but also to the main character Atsu, who is on a quest for revenge in the game.
According to the PlayStation Blog, the console designs are said to “pay homage to two beautiful Japanese visual traditions. “ For the Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition Bundle, the design is inspired by kintsugi, a traditional form of repairing ceramics using lacquer and gold. ” The design captures the essence and aesthetic of kintsugi, symbolizing beauty in imperfection and mirroring Atsu’s own personal journey of healing and resilience amidst the adversities she’ll face along the way.” The bundle comes with a DualSense controller featuring gold brush strokes and Atsu’s silhouette, complementing the console.
“Our inspiration for this design came straight from one of the core aspects within the game: a deep focus on exploration. This includes the hand-drawn icons Atsu marks on her map, a kintsugi-style effect pulled from her Ghost mask, and brushstrokes reminiscent of her Sumi-e paintings,” Jason Connell, Creative Director at Sucker Punch, says.
It’s worth noting that the Ghost of Yōtei Limited Edition DualSense controller will be available to purchase on its own. So, if you’re already happy with your PlayStation 5 console design, you can still celebrate the launch of Ghost of Yōtei later this year.
Ghost of Yōtei and its newly announced PlayStation 5 console bundles all launch on October 2nd. Preorder information, including pricing in Canada, will be revealed at a later time.
