Unreleased Telus Boost Wi-Fi 7 Spotted Online—Here’s What’s New
Telus is gearing up to launch its next-gen Boost Wi-Fi 7 system, and while it hasn’t been released yet, early details show the company is focusing on both sustainability and performance.
According to a 2025 Red Dot Design Award listing, the Boost Wi-Fi 7 is made with 65% recycled materials and features a modular design. Components are easily replaceable using regular tools, and the matte housing is designed for long-term durability. Telus also plans to offer refurbishment options to extend the device’s life and reduce e-waste.
From a tech standpoint, the Boost Wi-Fi 7 comes with the following based on the images:
- 1× 10GbE port
- 1× 2.5GbE port
- 1× 1GbE port
- 2× USB-C ports (1 for power, 1 unspecified)
- No Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) support
That last point is a major sticking point for some Telus customers, especially those in homes wired primarily with coaxial cable. Earlier models like the Boost Wi-Fi 6 and 6E included MoCA 2.5 support, making them better suited for wired connections without needing additional adapters. Reddit users were quick to point out the downgrade in Ethernet flexibility too, noting the lack of a second high-speed port.
“It’s bizarre they downgraded the Ethernet ports from the Boost 6E,” one user said on Reddit, where the listing was shared. “The MoCA feature was also super useful for older homes.”
Despite some complaints about the missing ports and design (“they’re effing ugly,” one commenter wrote), the Boost Wi-Fi 7 still looks to be Telus’s most future-ready router—especially for users with Wi-Fi 7 devices or gigabit+ plans. One Redditor speculated the new router might only be available to customers on plans with speeds of 1.5 Gbps or higher, similar to how the 6E model was distributed.
For now, Telus hasn’t announced a release date or pricing, so it’s unclear when the Boost Wi-Fi 7 will debut. Telus first launched its Boost Wi-Fi routers back in 2018, now known as Wi-Fi Plus offering Wi-Fi 6 and 6E technology, with subscriptions at $10/month.
