What Time Does Grow a Garden’s Zen Update Go Live on July 19?

Grow a garden zen event.

Grow a Garden is a Roblox farming simulator launched in late March of this year, by a 16-year-old developer under the username BMWLux.

Initially created in just a few days, the game started up slowly, averaging around 1,000 active users at the same time. In April, Janzen “Jandel” Madsen’s Splitting Point Studios acquired a 50% stake, and Florida-based Do Big Studios later took a minority share to improve development and monetization.

From there, Grow a Garden rapidly gained popularity, hitting milestones like 3 million concurrent users by May 17, 2025, causing temporary Roblox platform crashes. Yeah, that’s when you know a game is getting popular. But check out the history of Grow a Garden’s concurrent user records to date:

  • May 17, 2025 (No Specific Event): Hit 3 million concurrent users, causing temporary Roblox platform crashes.
  • May 31, 2025 (Bizzy Bees Event): Hit 5 million concurrent users with the introduction of new bee-related content.
  • June 14, 2025 (Working Bees Event): Achieved 16.4 million concurrent users, surpassing Fortnite’s record of 14.3 million
  • June 21, 2025 (Summer Harvest Event): Peaked at 21.3 million concurrent users, setting a new record for video games (this is insane)
  • July 12, 2025 (Pet Mutation Update): Reached a record high of 21,429,033 concurrent users with the introduction of new pet mutation mechanics.
  • July 18, 2024: “Zen Update”: ?

So what’s the big deal? Grow a Garden keeps breaking its own record for most players online at once—and it’s not slowing down. But why is it so addictive? The concept is simple: grow crops, sell them, earn cash. There’s even a leaderboard to show off your garden empire, which turns into a flex for younger players.

It’s not just a solo grind, either. Kids love comparing their setups, pets, and riches with friends. In our house—and many others—it’s clear: the game has fully taken over where Fortnite once ruled.

Grow a Garden keeps things fresh with regular live events, usually dropping early Saturday mornings. These events often bring limited-time goodies like rare seeds, pets, cosmetics, and special mutations. With a younger crowd playing, kicking things off first thing on a Saturday just fits.

This weekend’s event is called the Zen Update, and it’s all about chill vibes. Players can look forward to new seeds, peaceful-looking pets, and unique weather effects that set the tone. Like past events—remember Bee Swarm?—there will likely be timed activities every hour, giving players more chances to score exclusive rewards.

The Zen Update goes live Saturday at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET. If you’re on the West Coast, set that alarm early if you want to jump in as soon as it starts.
