Apple TV+ Teases New Series From ‘Breaking Bad’ Creator Vince Gilligan

Apple TV+ has begun teasing the new project from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan. In a cryptic reveal, the stream has posted a stark yellow image laying the foundation for what is to come.
On X (formerly Twitter), the official Apple TV account posted the above image with the caption “Happiness is Contagious.” The image itself shows a petri dish with some sort of substance in it, with an individual tracing a smiley face into it with a Q-tip. The image is also accompanied by the very exciting notice that the project is coming “From the creator of Breaking Bad.”
Apple is also teasing a full reveal of the project with a countdown slated to end at 3 PM ET/12 PM PT on Friday, July 25. The rolling live stream can be viewed below.
Vince Gilligan has been under the radar for quite some time. Breaking Bad, Gilligan’s critically acclaimed series starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, concluded in 2013. Gilligan then went on to create Better Call Saul, the prequel series helmed largely by Peter Gould. This new project would signal the next big splash by Gilligan and mark the first time he’s working with a streamer. Three years ago, it was reported that Apple TV+ acquired the streaming rights to Gilligan’s next series. Apple has already greenlit a two-season straight-to-series order for the project.
There’s currently not much known about the project (codenamed Wycaro 339). In previous reports, the series is said to be “a blended, grounded genre drama.” Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn is attached to star in the series alongside Karolina Wydra. The series is also said to be taking place once again in New Mexico. Gilligan will serve as showrunner and executive producer through his High Bridge Productions.
