Xbox Confirms Silksong Demo at Gamescom in August

Microsoft and Xbox have confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable on the showfloor at next month’s Gamescom event. Attendees will be among the first in the world to play the highly anticipated game during the expo, held between August 20 and August 24 in Cologne, Germany.

In a recently published Xbox Wire post, it’s confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable on PC as well as the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X gaming handhelds. This will be the “first public opportunity” to go hands-on with both handhelds, made in collaboration between Microsoft and Asus.

Earlier this year, during the Xbox Games Showcase, Xbox president Sarah Bond confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available “at launch and in Game Pass” when Asus’ new handhelds release sometime later this year.

In addition, Xbox’s Gamecom booth will be home to over 20 games from both first-party studios as well as third-party partners. Photo opportunities and other “experiences” will also be available throughout the week. Microsoft reveals that Grounded 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be amongst the many titles playable during Gamescom.

There will also be a theatre presentation dedicated to The Outer Worlds 2, which releases on October 24. It’s said that attendees will be taken through a “guided theatre experience” and see “how The Outer Worlds 2 explores a society that trades freedom for security, and reveres its founders with unsettling devotion.”

During Opening Night Live on August 19, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be revealed. The event is once again hosted by The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley and will be a must-watch show for new game reveals and announcements. Microsoft states that the reveal will kick off the “official start of a bold new chapter in Black Ops history.”

Xbox will host two live broadcasts from Gamescom, featuring spotlights on first-party studio teams and partners. The first is being held on Wednesday, August 20, at 9 AM ET/6 AM PT and will feature ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, Grounded 2KeeperCall of Duty: Black Ops 7, and more. The second broadcast begins at the same time on Thursday, August 21. This will feature the teams from Ninja Gaiden 4Overwatch 2The Outer Worlds 2, and more.
