Telus Launches Wi-Fi 7 Hardware—Here’s Where It’s Available First

Telus has officially launched its Wi-Fi 7 hardware in British Columbia, with Alberta and Quebec next in line.
The new system offers faster speeds, lower latency, and support for more devices at once—aimed at households juggling 4K streaming, gaming, and smart home gadgets.
We previously told you about Telus’ Wi-Fi 7 plans when its new hardware appeared on the 2025 Red Dot Awards website, where it was quietly listed as a winner for both design and sustainability.
Now it’s official: Wi-Fi 7 is available for new and existing Telus customers who are on or upgrade to a Gigabit PureFibre plan or higher.
According to the company, Wi-Fi 7 speeds are “up to four times faster than Wi-Fi 6,” and the new tech uses Multi-Link Operation to spread connections across multiple Wi-Fi bands at the same time—reducing lag and improving performance even in busy homes.
“The launch of Wi-Fi 7 is a game-changer for connected homes across Canada underscoring our commitment to delivering an unparalleled internet experience,” said Zainul Mawji, Executive Vice-president and President, Telus Consumer Solutions, in an issued statement. “By combining cutting-edge, sustainable designed hardware with the unmatched power of our fibre technology, we’re enabling Canadians to enjoy faster, more reliable and future-ready internet so they can stay ahead in today’s digital world.”
Telus says the new router is also designed to last. It’s made with 65% recycled plastic, packaged in mostly recycled cardboard, and built to be repairable and reusable through Telus’ refurbishment program.
For now, Telus says it’s focused on rolling Wi-Fi 7 out in Western Canada and Quebec, with plans to expand to more communities in the future.
Other telecoms are also rolling out Wi-Fi 7 hardware, with Rogers beating Telus to punch earlier this month, claiming it’s the first in Canada to do so.
