Microsoft Quietly Launches Surface Laptop ‘Smurface Edition’

Microsoft has quietly launched a very limited edition model of its Surface Laptop 13-inch, made in collaboration with Smurfs. The device quietly launched in the US, with only 100 units made available, exclusively on Amazon for $999.
The Surface Laptop ‘Smurface Edition’ is still available on the US Amazon website by the looks of it. This rare model of the Surface Laptop features laser-etched Smurfs on the lid, accompanied by a Smurf-inspired blue Microsoft logo in the middle.
To make matters even more bizarre is that Microsoft hasn’t officially announced this limited edition Surface in any capacity. The latest Smurfs movie was released in theatres on July 18th, meaning this was likely developed in some sort of marketing collaboration. However, the scarcity of the Smurface Edition laptop makes this model one of the rarest Surface devices ever released.
The Smurface Edition laptop is essentially the standard 13-inch Surface laptop, which launched in May of this year. It features a 60Hz touchscreen and comes with the Snapdragon X Plus chipset. The device also sports 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft has released a variant of the Surface laptop. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company, Microsoft developed a rare Surface Laptop 7. However, the company opted to let 50 fans win the device rather than sell it.
While the Surface Laptop ‘Smurface Edition’ does have a listing on Amazon’s Canadian site, it does read as “Currently unavailable.” It’s unlikely any will be made available in Canada. However, it’s worth keeping an eye out for if you happen to be a big Smurf fan in need of a new laptop.
