Apple Reportedly Launching New Apple TV Later This Year

Apple is reportedly still on track to launch a new model of its Apple TV later this year. With a new model entering the market, it’s believed that Apple may discontinue the current Apple TV 4K device.
Word comes from MacRumors, which heard about the news from a “reliable source.” According to said source, a new Apple TV model will effectively replace the Apple TV 4K device that first launched in 2022.
It’s believed that the new model will support a much improved chipset. This year’s Apple TV is also believed to provide support for Wi-Fi 7 and include a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip designed by Apple. It’s claimed that when using this, Apple’s smart home devices will be able to sync faster and share data at a much more reliable rate. It’s also believed that Apple may lower the price tag of its new Apple TV to make it more competitive in the market.
The current Apple TV 4K features the company’s A15 Bionic chip, offering improved performance over its predecessor. The current model also supports HDR10+, supporting exceptional colour contrast. Apple also introduced the Siri Remote with USB-C charging.
There’s no definitive word on when the new model of Apple TV could be launched. However, it’s believed that it could arrive between September and December, rounding out 2025.
During WWDC, Apple revealed that tvOS 26 will be bringing its largest Apple TV update in years. This includes more refined user profiles and a new karaoke-style singalong feature for Apple Music. All of this will be coupled by the Liquid Glass UI, which will unify Apple’s software.

Gotta say, I'm impressed. We've had the same Apple TV model (non-4K version) for over 10 years, and it just works with everything still, and load times are still pretty quick for Netflix, Prime, Disney, etc, and still gets updates…
