Netflix Canada to Stream FIFA Women’s World Cup in Exclusive Deal

Netflix has locked down the exclusive streaming rights for the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup in both Canada and the United States, marking the first time the tournament will be broadcast on a streaming service in Canada. That’s a big win for soccer fans, as Netflix just makes it easy to watch from any device at any time.
The 2027 World Cup, set for June 24 to July 25, will take place in Brazil and feature 32 national teams competing across eight cities. The 2031 edition will expand to 48 teams for the first time.
All matches will be available live on Netflix and included in all subscription plans. In Canada, coverage will be offered in English and French, and in the U.S., both English and Spanish options will be available.
Netflix also plans to support the live broadcasts with studio shows, commentary, and original documentary content focused on players and the growth of women’s soccer.
This move builds on Netflix’s recent push into live sports. It follows the company’s coverage of major events like the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 boxing match and NFL Christmas Day games, as well as upcoming coverage of WWE Raw and Canelo vs. Crawford.
FIFA’s Chief Business Officer Romy Gai commented, “Following the landmark agreement between FIFA and Netflix in the United States, we are pleased to extend the footprint of our partnership to Canada — a nation with a rich FIFA Women’s World Cup history.”
The FIFA Women’s World Cup joins Netflix’s growing sports lineup as the platform continues experimenting with live event programming. You can bet major broadcasters here are upset they won’t get to stream the FIFA Women’s World Cup and lose out on ad revenue, to yet another streamer.
