Spotify Reveals Canada’s Most-Streamed Artists of Early 2025
Spotify has released its first-half 2025 Canadian Global Impact List, naming Canadian artists whose songs were streamed most by listeners outside the country.
Three Canadian acts made the global top 10: Tate McRae, Drake, and WizTheMc. McRae’s tracks “Sports car” and “Revolving door” both ranked in the global top 10, with “Sports car” taking the second spot overall. Drake’s “NOKIA” also landed on the list.
Spotify says McRae’s international success builds on a steady rise since her 2020 debut. She now joins The Weeknd as one of the Canadian artists with four songs in the country’s top 10 list for the period.
“Canadian artists continue to make a powerful mark on the global stage, and the Global Impact List is a reflection of that reach. From genre-defying sounds to deeply personal storytelling, Canada’s music scene is as diverse as it is influential, and we’re proud to support artists as they break through borders and connect with listeners around the world,” said Elizabeth Phipps, Artist and Label Partnerships Lead at Spotify Canada, in a statement to iPhone in Canada on Wednesday.
Spotify also reported that in 2024, over 40% of Canadian artists earning more than $1 million on the platform were women or in mixed-gender groups — one of the highest shares among major music markets.
