HomePod Mini to Get Refreshed Model With New Chip in Late 2025

Apple’s HomePod mini is reportedly receiving a minor refresh in the near future. A new version of the smart home speakers is said to be in development, featuring an updated chipset based on the S-series processors featured across Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and this year’s unreleased Apple Watch Series 11.
Apple code was first discovered and reported on by MacRumors. According to the report, this code makes mention of a HomePod mini device using the T8310 microarchitecture. This device in question is also referenced with the B525 codename. The current model available on the market is referred to as B520.
The HomePod mini that’s readily available now utlizes an S5 chip for processing commands, playing music, etc. This S5 processor was originally developed for the Apple Watch. The existing S9 and S10 chips for Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Series 10 feature T8310 cores. It’s belived that the Apple Series 11 will also use the same technology. However, it’s still not known if Apple will be basing the HomePod mini’s chip on the S9, S10 or S11.
Apple’s refresh on the HomePod mini is expected to launch sometime in late 2025, following the predicted release of the Apple Watch Series 11. With this in mind, it’s likely the company will leverage its new S11 chip that’ll be used in the Series 11 as well as the expected Apple Watch Ultra 3 this year.
It’s long been rumoured that a new HomePod mini will be amongst the first devices to feature Apple’s new in-house Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth chip. Through the use of these, HomePod mini will assumedly be able to interact with Apple’s ecosystem faster and more reliably. It’s also beleived that new colour options may be available at launch.
