Apple May Delay iPhone 18 Release Until Spring 2027

According to ETNews, Apple may skip launching the standard iPhone 18 in fall 2026, pushing the iPhone 18 and 18e to spring 2027 while debuting premium models and a foldable device in fall 2026 (via MacRumors).

The source believes that Apple has already briefed suppliers that the iPhone 18 and entry-level 18e will not appear in the September launch. Instead those models will wait until around March 2027.

This structure effectively splits the iPhone launch cadence into two phases each year i.e. premium models in the fall and base models in spring. It echoes Apple’s strategy behind the iPhone 16e introduced earlier this year, which took the place of the SE line but with a naming scheme tied to its main lineup.

Analysts and outlets confirm the evolving timetable. Macworld outlines that September 2026 would bring iPhone 18 Air plus Pro lineup and the foldable option, while March 2027 will finally introduce the standard iPhone 18 and 18e. Observers say the goal of this staggered approach is to maintain momentum through the calendar year and tap into demand outside the usual holiday window.

The foldable iPhone, slated for fall 2026 alongside premium models, underscores Apple’s push into a new flagship category. Effectively, Apple may unveil four premium models in fall 2026, iPhone 18 Air, Pro, Pro Max, and Fold, before releasing the standard iPhone 18 and 18e six months later.

Foldable iphone kuo.

If true this marks the first time since the original 2007 release that Apple would exclude the base model from its usual September launch.

iPhones released in 2008 (3G), 2009 (3GS), and 2010 (4) all had July release dates. It was iPhone 4S (2011) that initiated the usual fall release schedule.

Wow! It isn't bad enough that we have to buy an iPhad to get the best camera (might as well have tip-out corners so your phone can double as a coffee table), but now those of us that really don't want a tablet in our pocket are being relegated out another 6 months.

How p—d off do people have to get to start considering leaving the walled garden? (I'm seriously considering it….). Insulting.
