Apple’s Self Service Repair Program Now Available in Canada

Apple is bringing its Self Service Repair and Genuine Parts Distributor programs to Canada, giving customers and independent repair shops access to official parts, tools, and manuals for fixing Apple devices. The company announced back in May the program was coming to Canada and it was supposed to arrive this summer, and now it’s finally here.

The Self Service Repair program, which first launched in 2022, lets people order genuine Apple parts and follow official repair guides to fix products themselves. It now covers iPhone, Mac, and iPad, and is available in 34 countries.

“Expanding Apple’s repair programs in Canada is another milestone in our mission to make repairs easier and more accessible around the globe,” said Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare Service and Repair in a statement on Tuesday. “With today’s announcement, we’re taking a meaningful step toward broadening device longevity, reducing waste, and empowering both customers and repair professionals with quality, secure repair options.”

Alongside that, the Genuine Parts Distributor program is also rolling out in Canada. This allows repair providers without a direct Apple partnership to buy official iPhone and iPad parts — like displays, batteries, and charging ports — through MobileSentrix, a wholesale distributor. The program first launched in the U.S. last year and later expanded to Europe.

With these new options, Apple says 80 percent of Canadians now live within a 30-minute drive of an Apple Store, Authorized Service Provider, or Independent Repair Provider. If you’re ready to do-it-yourself when it comes to repair, you can now do so with official guides and parts (good luck).

What Apple doesn't tell you is that for some Canadians, there is an International Border in between them and the Apple Store.
