Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have officially embarked on their next chapter as they shared their engagement news in a joint Instagram post, which surpassed the 1 million mark in under 6 hours.
The superstar couple shared some affectionate photos and a cheeky caption that read “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Swifties and Kelce fans reacted instantly as the post raced to break metadata milestones on Instagram. As of now, the likes have grown to more than 30 million.
The ring, at the center of the announcement, is a vintage style masterpiece co created by Travis Kelce and jewelry artist Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The design features an Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond estimated to range between 7 and 10 carats, and is valued at anywhere from $125,000 to $5,000,000.
Observers speculate the couple may have timed their announcement to reflect Taylor Swift’s fondness for numerology. The announcement made on August 26 fell exactly 13 days after Swift appeared on New Heights on August 13, and 40 days before her next album The Life of a Showgirl drops on October 3.
Fans also point out the link between her favorite number 13 and Travis’s jersey number 87 combining to equal 100.
Kelce’s family has also shared in the celebration. His mother Donna hinted at good news just two days prior by saying her son seemed calm and purposeful. His brother Jason described the proposal as the “proposal heard around the world” in response to the announcement.
Their relationship that began in summer of 2023 has now blossomed into one of the most high profile celebrity partnerships in recent memory.
