Tesla Launches New Model Y Performance, But Not in Canada

Tesla has unveiled an updated Model Y Performance, adding design changes, new hardware, and more comfort features while shaving time off its acceleration.
The refreshed model now does 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds (0–100 km/h in about 3.4 seconds), compared to 3.5 seconds in the outgoing version. It has a top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h). Range is estimated at about 308 miles (495 km) on the EPA cycle, which Tesla says is only around 1% less than the Long Range version. The gain comes from new high-density battery cells with improved charge capacity.

The car weighs 2,033 kg (4,482 lbs) and has a ground clearance of 6.1 inches, slightly lower than the Long Range’s 6.6 inches.
Design and performance updates include:
- New front and rear fascias, plus a carbon spoiler for better aerodynamics
- Staggered wheel and tire setup for extra grip and sharper steering
- Adaptive suspension with unique drive modes
- High-performance brakes with improved pedal feel and better heat management
- Carbon fibre interior trim
- Exclusive performance badge

Interior and tech upgrades:
- A larger 16-inch QHD touchscreen in the first row (vs 15.4-inch in other trims)
- New sport seats up front with heating, ventilation, power recline, tilt, and extendable thigh support
- Rear seats with heating and power recline
- Footwell and door pocket ambient lighting
- Additional sound-dampening and acoustic glass for a quieter cabin

For driver assistance, the car now features eight exterior cameras, including a new front-facing unit, which has been reflective of its latest cars with Hardware 4 (HW4) computers for Full Self-Driving.
The updated Model Y Performance is available to order now in Europe and the Middle East, with deliveries expected to begin in the next one to two months. Other markets will follow later, likely including Canada and the U.S.
For now, Tesla is importing new Model Y builds from its Gigafactory in Berlin, to bypass tariffs.
So now Tesla has two new Model Y variants unavailable in Canada for now. The new Model Y L in China and now this updated Model Y Performance.

Now as for pricing? The new Model Y Performance is priced from £61,990, or about $114,975 CAD. Yeah, it’s not cheap but this new refresh looks pretty badass with the 21-inch Arachnid wheels and front fascia.
