Google Pixel Drop September 2025 is Here: What’s New

Google has announced a set of new Android updates as part of its September 2025 Pixel Drop, that adds AI-powered writing, more emoji options, and easier ways to share audio and files.

gboard ai

Android’s keyboard app, Gboard, now includes built-in AI to help improve your writing. Users can tap to adjust tone—making a message more formal, expressive, or concise—or run a full proofreading check with grammar and spelling fixes. Google says the edits happen directly on the device, which means the data isn’t sent to the cloud. It would be really cool if this came to Gboard on iOS.

Emoji Kitchen, the feature that lets users combine emojis into custom stickers, is getting a refresh. You can now browse through a larger library, save your favourite combinations, and discover new suggestions created for you.

android share headphones

Android now finally supports pairing two LE Audio Bluetooth headphones to one phone, letting two people listen to the same music, podcast, or video at once. For larger groups, a new “broadcast” feature allows one person to share audio via a QR code. Others can scan to join, effectively turning a hangout into a silent disco.

Apple has offered the ability to share two sets of AirPods to the same device for a while now, but a group broadcast feature is non-existent.

android quick share

Quick Share, Google’s file transfer system (it’s like Apple’s AirDrop), has been updated with a simpler interface. Users can quickly switch between sending and receiving, preview photos before sharing, and open received files immediately. A new progress bar shows how much of the file has transferred in real time.

As an extra addition, Google is bringing back Androidify in AI form. With a selfie, users can generate a custom Android bot version of themselves.

Today also brings the September 2025 Pixel Drop, which includes Google’s Material 3 Expressive Design to more devices. The software versions are below:
