Gemini AI for Google Home Gets October Launch Date

Google has announced Gemini for Google Home is now set to launch on the first of October.

Previously, Google detailed how its Gemini AI for Home would entail at its Made by Google event in August. At the time, Google said Gemini would be coming in October for Home. Now, the October 1 date is when customers will start seeing it.

Gemini, which already powers Google’s mobile AI experiences, brings its advanced reasoning and natural language abilities into the home. Unlike the older Assistant, it’s designed to handle more complex, conversational requests—whether that’s controlling multiple smart devices at once, managing family schedules, or digging into detailed questions.

This is the update Google Home users have been waiting for and back in July the company promised a major overhaul was coming.

The update also introduces Gemini Live, a feature that lets users hold ongoing conversations without repeating “Hey Google.” It’s aimed at deeper tasks, like cooking help, troubleshooting appliances, learning new skills, or even co-creating bedtime stories.

Google says Gemini will roll out gradually, with both free and paid options available. Existing Google Assistant devices will be upgraded to Gemini over time, which is great news.

This launch of Gemini for Home will be pretty sweet for existing users. Apple users with Google Home devices will soon get even more frustrated that Siri is taking its sweet time to get a long awaited AI update.
