Apple Original Film ‘The Lost Bus’ Premieres at TIFF 2025

Apple Original Films brought The Lost Bus to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Friday, September 5, premiering the wildfire survival drama at the Princess of Wales Theatre.
Directed by Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips), the film stars Matthew McConaughey (“alright, alright, alright”) as a bus driver and America Ferrera as a teacher trying to save 22 children during one of America’s deadliest wildfires, from Paradise, California, in 2018. The story is inspired by true events and Lizzie Johnson’s book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire.
Backing the project are Apple Original Films, with production from Blumhouse Productions (Jason Blum), Comet Pictures (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Gregory Goodman. Writer/producer Brad Ingelsby also worked alongside Greengrass on the screenplay.
The red carpet included McConaughey, Ferrera, Greengrass, Curtis, Blum, and several real-life community members who inspired characters in the film. Jamie Erlicht, co-head of Worldwide Video at Apple, was also in attendance.
The Lost Bus hits select theatres September 19, 2025, before its global streaming release on Apple TV+ October 3, 2025 (if you wait you can watch it free as part of your subscription).
