Amazon Turns Into a Takeout App with DoorDash Integration

Amazon Canada has expanded its partnership with DoorDash, letting customers in 350 cities across the country order food directly from Amazon.ca and the Amazon app.

The move brings restaurant delivery to 80% of the Canadian population for the first time.

For Prime members, the existing DashPass offer is being extended, which first debuted in 2023. DashPass waives delivery fees on eligible orders, lowers service fees, gives 5% back in credits on pickup orders, and includes access to exclusive deals. Amazon says this amounts to about $120 in yearly subscription savings.

“All Amazon.ca customers can now order from DoorDash’s extensive restaurant network directly through our website and Shopping App. For our Prime members, we’re adding DashPass as a continued membership offer, giving them even more reasons to love Prime while saving both time and money with every order,” said Eva Lorenz, Amazon Canada’s country manager, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

So what’s the next step? You can activate or reactivate your DashPass offer here on Amazon.ca. Those already enrolled in the previous one-year offer will see it automatically continued.

Prime memberships in Canada cost $9.99 per month or $99 per year, while students and young adults can join for a discounted $4.99 per month after a six-month free trial.
