Xbox Prices Going Up in the U.S.—Will Canada Get Hit Again?
Xbox is hiking console prices in the United States starting October 3, 2025, blaming “the macroeconomic environment.” The update affects Series S and Series X consoles, though controllers and headsets will stay the same.
In the U.S., the Xbox Series S 512GB will climb to $399.99 USD, the 1TB model goes to $449.99, the Xbox Series X Digital Edition rises to $599.99, and the standard Series X hits $649.99. A new 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition Series X will land at $799.99.
While Microsoft says these changes only apply in the U.S., Canadian players have reason to be wary. Back in May, Xbox prices jumped significantly in Canada. The Series S (512GB) went up $80 to $449.99 CAD, the 1TB model to $529.99 CAD, the Series X Digital Edition to $679.99 CAD (up from $599), and the standard Series X to $729.99 CAD (up from $649). The 2TB Galaxy Black model also saw an $80 bump to $879.99 CAD.
Even accessories weren’t spared, with controllers climbing to $84.99 CAD and special editions hitting $99.99 CAD, while select first-party games are now $79.99 USD, or roughly $110 CAD.
Microsoft insists no other regions are seeing changes this fall. On its site, the company explained: “Pricing in countries outside the U.S. remains the same. Local pricing may differ by country to reflect exchange rates and other market conditions.”
Still, after Canada’s May hike, gamers here are left wondering if another round of increases could be just around the corner.
