2026’s Foldable iPhone Believed to be ‘Two Titanium iPhone Airs’

Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut next year, is believed to be a thin device that’s essentially “two titanium iPhone Airs side-by-side.”
In the latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that the first foldable iPhone from the Cupertino company is expected to leverage the thin design of the newly released iPhone Air. The device will also utilize top-of-the-line folding technology and a reliable hinge.
The foldable iPhone is believed to feature a 7.8-inch foldable display with a 5.5-inch outer OLED display. Apple may also skip using FaceID on the foldable and rely on TouchID. Additionally, the device is said to offer a dual-lens camera array on the back and a front-facing camera when folded and unfolded. However, industry analysts believe the device may launch at around $2,000 USD (roughly $2,760 CAD).
The iPhone Air launched last week. The ultra-thin device features a 6.5-inch display and is only 5.64mm thick. Apple has also reduced the weight to 165g. The device makes for a fantastic test bed to develop a thin foldable that can utilize the technology introduced in the iPhone Air and expand on it for a foldable.
Apple is reported to be using a custom in-cell touch OLED panel for its foldable. Similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, the folable iPhone is expected to feature a minimal crease between its two displays. Plus, the device may offer a titanium alloy frame with a titanium hinge mechanism to ensure durability.
The foldable iPhone isn’t expected until sometime next year. It’s likely Apple may reserve the launch until the release of the iPhone 18.
