Apple Vision Pro May Finally Get a Strap You’ll Want to Wear

Apple could be preparing a new strap for the Vision Pro, according to hidden code spotted in the company’s backend by MacRumors.
The code includes a reference to something called a “Dual Knit Band”—a strap that doesn’t exist today. Right now, the Vision Pro only comes with the Solo Knit Band and the Dual Loop Band. The name suggests Apple may be testing a hybrid design: the softness and flexibility of the knit material, combined with the extra support of a two-band setup.
Details in the backend hint at one strap running over the top of the head (finally) and another behind it, similar to the way some users have already been doubling up on Solo Knit Bands themselves for better comfort. Many say that DIY setup is easier to wear for long periods compared to Apple’s official options.
The Vision Pro is on the heavy side—just over 595 grams—and owners often complain about discomfort from the weight distribution. Apple is expected to update the headset in 2025 with a faster M5 chip, but the rest of the hardware will reportedly stay the same aside from this potential new band.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who previously reported that Apple was working on a more comfortable strap, chimed in on the discovery, saying: “This is the new band I’ve been talking about. It’ll never happen but Apple should be giving this for free to every single person who has paid $3500+ [USD] for the Vision Pro.” Drop over $5K on a Vision Pro and you don’t even get a comfortable supportive strap? Now that’s a bad Apple.
Apple’s Vision Pro starts from $4,999 in Canada, which is pretty expensive. A recent report from Gurman says Apple has shelved its cheaper Vision Pro to instead focus on smart glasses, in a bid to respond to Meta’s offerings.
