Facebook Revamps Reels to Boost Discovery and Sharing

Facebook has introduced a set of upgrades aimed at making it simpler and more engaging for users to find and share Reels. The company says these enhancements will help people see more content that matches their interests.

At the heart of the update is a smarter recommendation engine. Facebook now adapts faster to your viewing preferences, showing fresh Reels from both new and familiar creators.

The system will prioritize trending content, elevating more videos published that same day, so your feed feels livelier and more up to date. The platform also wants to give you more control over what appears in your Reels feed. You can tap “Not Interested” on videos you dislike or flag inappropriate comments.

A more social layer is being added through “friend bubbles.” When a Reel or feed post includes a bubble, it signals that one or more of your friends liked that content. Tapping the bubble lets you open a private chat immediately, making it easier to talk about something you both enjoyed. The bubbles aim to spark conversation and let users feel more connected through shared interests.

To help you dig deeper into topics you love, Facebook now offers AI-powered suggested search inside certain Reels. You can explore related content without exiting the video player. For example you might watch a cooking Reel then tap a suggestion to see more recipes or food content.

Meta says these updates are just the beginning. The company anticipates further improvements aimed at personalization, social interaction, and content discovery on Facebook’s Reels hub. The goal is to better integrate Reels into the core Facebook experience.

Over the past year Facebook has invested heavily in video. The platform highlights that videos have seen significant growth in watch time, especially long and varied formats. Reels longer than a minute now account for a quarter of videos from creators with over 10,000 followers, and more than half of total watch time.
