How to Use Windowing in iPadOS 26 [VIDEO]

Apple has shared a new tutorial video on YouTube, detailing how you can quickly resize app windows, place them exactly where you want, and open even more windows at once in iPadOS 26.

To turn the Windowed Apps feature on or off on your iPad:

  • Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center.
  • Tap the Windowed Apps button, or tap and hold the Windowed Apps button to switch between Windowed Apps or Stage Manager.

You can also turn Windowed Apps on or off from the Settings app:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Multitasking & Gestures.
  3. To turn Windowed Apps on, select Windowed Apps. To turn it off, select Full Screen Apps, or select Stage Manager to multitask another way.

You can use Windowed Apps on these iPad models:

  • iPad (A16)
  • iPad Air 13-inch (M3)
  • iPad Air 11-inch (M3)
  • iPad mini (A17 Pro)
  • iPad Pro 13-inch (M4)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (M4)
  • iPad Air 13-inch (M2)
  • iPad Air 11-inch (M2)
  • iPad (8th generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)
