Tesla’s New Update Turns Cars Into ‘Tron: Ares’ Lightcycles

Tesla has launched an update that brings an optional Tron:Ares effect to your vehicle, which comes the day of the release of the new film from Disney.

The update for compatible vehicles with a red light and a red Tron motorcycle as your car. How to enable this? Just go to Toybox > Tron.

Tron: Ares (2025) is the third Tron film, directed by Joachim Rønning, starring Jared Leto as an AI soldier invading the real world from a digital realm, with Jeff Bridges reprising Kevin Flynn and a cast including Greta Lee and Evan Peters.

Developed over a decade amid script changes and strikes, the $180 million US production features stunning visuals by ILM and a score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, premiering today in theatres.

Tesla vehicles without RGB ambient lighting can still get the Tron: Ares effect, but only the infotainment screen visualization (the light cycle animation and Tron-style graphics). The red ambient lighting part of the effect requires RGB-capable interior lights.

Earlier this week, Tesla’s Optimum humanoid robot appeared on the red carpet for the Tron: Ares premiere and tried to fight Jared Leto—check it out below:

Again, this looks to be some sort of collaboration with Disney and the effect while cool, is optional and must be enabled through the Toybox. Some people online are criticizing this move as blatant advertising–what do you think?
