Samsung Ready to Reveal Trifold Phone—While Apple Hasn’t Folded a Thing

Samsung is reportedly preparing to reveal its first trifold smartphone later this month during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea, according to a Bloomberg report citing a person familiar with the matter.

The upcoming device will feature two hinges, allowing it to fold into a compact smartphone or unfold into a larger tablet-style display. It’s expected to be showcased as part of a cutting-edge Korean technology exhibit at the summit, though attendees likely won’t be allowed to handle it, as the phone will be displayed under glass, the source told Bloomberg.

The trifold phone is slated for a commercial launch later this year, marking a major milestone for Samsung in the foldable market it helped pioneer in 2019. Rival Huawei released the world’s first trifold phone in China last year, and Samsung’s version is expected to bring the format to a global audience.

The unveiling comes as competition in foldable devices heats up—with Chinese manufacturers expanding their offerings and Apple reportedly developing its first folding iPhone for release next year.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to attend the APEC summit from October 31 to November 1, 2025.

Ha.ha..Apple hasn't folded a thing. We will wait another 5 to 6 years for a trifold after the release of the first foldable.
