Luigi’s Manison Now Available on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

Just in time for Halloween, Nintendo has added the original Luigi’s Mansion to its Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. Subscribers can now equip the Poltergust 3000 and hunt some ghosts on Nintendo Switch 2.

Over on X (formerly Twitter), Nintendo posted, “Ghosts lurk in every nook and cranny! You’ll have to master the Poltergust 3000 to vacuum them all up in Luigi’s Mansion, available to play now with Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics.” Luigi’s Mansion now joins a growing list of GameCube titles on the subscription service.

Luigi’s Mansion is the first in the popular ghost-hunting trilogy. First released in 2001, players step into Luigi’s trepidatious shoes as he explores a haunted mansion to find his brother Mario. Along the way, he meets Professor E. Gadd, who assists Luigi in defeating King Boo and his legion of ghosts inhabiting the mansion. Throughout Luigi’s Mansion, you’ll explore various rooms within the mansion and hunt down ghosts with the Poltergust 3000, a vacuum that sucks up ghosts as well as interacts with puzzles.

When it was first released on the Nintendo GameCube, the game received an overall positive reception. It then spun two sequels over the years. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon launched on the Nintendo 3DS in 2013. Later, Luigi’s Mansion 3 was released on Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Luigi’s Mansion is the latest GameCube title to enter the classic library on the Nintendo Switch 2. Other titles like Super Mario Strikers, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and F-Zero GX are also available to play as part of the subscription, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.

An annual subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is available for $63.99 in Canada. Nintendo also offers a 12-month Family Membership, including up to eight accounts, for $99.99.
