Your Bell MTS Bill Is About to Go Up—For the Second Time This Year

Here we go again, folks—another day, another telecom price hike. Bell MTS customers in Manitoba will see their monthly bills go up starting November 1, 2025, with increases hitting internet, TV, and home phone services.

Here’s what’s changing:

  • Internet (Fibe 75 to Gigabit Fibe 3.0): up $4/month
  • Fibe TV packages (Basic, Good, Better, Best): up $2/month
  • Home Phone Basic Line: up $2/month
  • Home Phone Essentials: up $1/month

Bell MTS says the increases are needed to “support ongoing investments”—a familiar line Canadians have heard before. Customers can check their next bill for the updated rates or call 204-225-5687 to make changes or cancel their service.

MTS, short for Manitoba Telecom Services, was bought by Bell in a $3.9 billion deal that received federal approval back in 2017.

Altogether, Bell MTS customers are paying up to $7 more per month for internet, $4 more for TV, and $4 more for home phone compared to the start of 2025. It’s the second price hike this year, stacking new November increases on top of those from January.

In a statement earlier this year responding to the first price hikes, a Bell spokesperson said at the time, “Since 2020, Bell has invested more than $22.8 billion to deliver Canada’s fastest and most reliable networks at competitive prices. Due to rising operating costs and an evolving market, the monthly rate of some Bell services will increase, effective January 1, 2025. We’ve provided 60 days notice to impacted customers about these changes.”

BellMTS has no reach in the southeast of MB anymore, it's all Valley Fiber, Starlink, or Swift Underground (now Xplore *shudder*) there now.

I still remember (way) back when I had a Bell home phone and the regularity it which the monthly bill would increase.
The day came when everyone in my house had their own cellphone and we cancelled Bell.

For the next two years, we heard regularly from them to trying to get out account back with lower monthly rates.
Every time I called, I reminded them maybe you shouldn't have kept raising your prices when you had our business.

The same scenario happened when I recently walked away from Virgin Mobile – once you quit, they come back with a (far) better offer.

I suggest quitting Bell and wait a few days, they will call you up with a better offer – or do like I did and walk completely away from this predatory company.
