Blue Jays Game 7 Was So Huge It Broke Canadian TV Records, Says Rogers

Game 7 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers drew an average of 10.9 million viewers across Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, and Citytv — the biggest English-language TV audience in Canada since the 2010 Winter Olympics, according to Numeris data, said Rogers on Monday afternoon.

In total, 18.5 million Canadians — about 45% of the country — watched at least part of the game. Viewership peaked at 14 million around 11:38 p.m. ET, when Ernie Clement came to bat with two on and two out in the bottom of the ninth.

Fans also tuned in before and after the game, with 2.3 million watching Sportsnet’s Blue Jays Central pregame show and 1.2 million sticking around for postgame coverage. During Saturday’s primetime slot, Rogers channels captured more than 85% of all TV viewing in Canada.

Across the full series, Blue Jays–Dodgers broadcasts averaged 7.5 million viewers, with 23 million Canadians tuning in at some point. Each of the seven games now ranks among the most-watched Blue Jays broadcasts ever.

Average audiences by game:

  • Game 1 – 7M
  • Game 2 – 6.6M
  • Game 3 – 5.8M
  • Game 4 – 6.2M
  • Game 5 – 7.2M
  • Game 6 – 9.4M
  • Game 7 – 10.9M

Overall, Sportsnet’s MLB postseason coverage averaged 2.5 million viewers and reached nearly 25 million Canadians.

Now, Sportsnet+ probably could have had even more numbers if their app didn’t crash out like the Blue Jays at the bottom of the 9th inning. Regardless, that was one heck of a run by the Rogers-owned Blue Jays.
