WhatsApp Just Landed on Apple Watch: Here’s What You Can Do

WhatsApp has officially rolled out its long-awaited app for Apple Watch, giving users more ways to stay connected without needing their iPhone nearby. The release follows beta testing that first revealed the app to iOS testers earlier this month.
With the new app, users can now read entire message threads, reply using voice or text, send quick emoji reactions, and view clearer photos and stickers directly on their wrist. Notifications for incoming WhatsApp calls also appear on the Apple Watch, and users can see chat history without having to open their phone.
Voice messages can be recorded and sent from the watch using the built-in microphone, a first for WhatsApp on watchOS. The app maintains WhatsApp’s signature end-to-end encryption for all messages and calls.
WhatsApp for Apple Watch is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and newer models running watchOS 10 or later. The launch brings one of the world’s most popular messaging platforms deeper into Apple’s ecosystem, giving users a more seamless experience when on the move.
Meta says this is just the beginning, with plans to expand functionality based on user feedback in future updates.
So far, WhatsApp for Apple Watch is live in Canada too and works great in our testing, despite freezing up on the first try.
How to install WhatsApp for Apple Watch? You can click here to download it for the iPhone and it should install onto your Apple Watch. If it doesn’t, launch the Apple Watch app, then scroll all the way to the bottom, find WhatsApp and tap “Install”.
