Fido Customer Angry After $5 Bill Increase, Just Months After Last Hike

Fido customers are speaking out after another round of price increases, with one subscriber saying it’s the second time their bill has gone up this year.

One Reddit user shared a notice from their latest bill titled “Changes to your mobile plan rate,” which reads: “We continuously invest in our network to bring you the best mobile experience in Canada. To help support these investments, we will be increasing the monthly fee for your mobile plan by $5 (plus taxes), starting with your next bill, on or after December 2, 2025.”

In their post, the Fido customer asked, “They are increasing the rates again?? They added $3 to my bill not long ago and now they are adding $5 more.”

When another user asked about timing between the hikes, they replied, “Last increase was on the 1st of May so 7 months.”

That means this customer has seen two increases within seven months — a $3 bump in May and another $5 increase starting in December.

Other commenters called out the timing of the change. “Interesting timing, just before Black Friday,” one user said. “You would think they would want to hold off to a time when none of the competitors have deals.”

Some said they’ve already switched providers over similar hikes. “I left Fido last month for Freedom and have never been happier,” one person wrote, while another added, “So glad I left this BS company.”

Long-time customers also pointed to what they see as poor loyalty treatment. “I argued that the new customer plans were crazy deals compared to what I had and they kept saying, ‘you were a new customer at one time,’” one commenter said. “Basically, customer loyalty doesn’t mean anything to them.”

The notice from Rogers-owned Fido says the $5 increase is to support “network investments,” but for many subscribers, it’s another reminder that monthly plan prices continue to rise—even without changes to service.

Last month Rogers posted its Q3 earnings, where it saw $2.05 billion in wireless service revenue, essentially flat compared to a year ago. The company added 111,000 total wireless subscribers in the quarter and saw its postpaid churn drop to 0.99%, the lowest it has been in over two years. That’s the rate at which subscribers jump ship to another company.

Freedom Mobile has a price freeze guarantee, which was an alternative suggested in the Fido thread. You may want to check your latest Fido bill to see if your wireless bill is going to be increasing next month or not, and let us know in the comments if your prices are going up or not.

“Basically, customer loyalty doesn’t mean anything to them.”

For whatever reason, this statement is one hundred percent true and I'd recommend to take an hour (or two) and shop around.
I recently hopped on with Cogeco which is relatively new at mobile services and they are offering some great deals but only with bringing your own device.

As I said in my comment, I went with Cogeco. As a new customer and already having Cogeco home internet, I got 10 gigs of data per month for ten bucks a month for one year.
After that it jumps up to thirty dollars a year.

Saying that, unused data rolls over into the next month but only for two months.
Oh, and that is 5G service.

Good luck shopping.

I now pay 74.56 per month… I just had an 8 cad price hike in December 2025 !!! That comes to 96 $ extra a year… it's quite a lot. "Perks" I can see what number called me, I can hide my own, I have that answering service where the spoken message is "typed out"… and that is it.

Ridiculous price hike. I am looking into Freedom Mobile.
