WaterField Designs Releases Neo Sleeve for Apple Magic Keyboard

WaterField Designs has introduced the Neo Sleeve, a neoprene case designed to protect Apple’s Magic Keyboard during transport (you know, for when you take your iMac to Starbucks). The sleeve is available in two sizes—one for the standard Magic Keyboard and one for the model with a numeric keypad.

The case is built from 4.5mm shock-absorbing neoprene and uses reinforced, cross-stitched seams so it can stretch without losing its shape. WaterField says the neoprene is water-resistant and thick enough to soften bumps and prevent scratches. The exterior has a textured finish for better grip, while the interior is smooth to keep the keyboard from catching as it slides in and out.

Two pull-tabs sewn into the sides give users a way to remove the keyboard without tugging or twisting the case. The sleeve is designed to stay close-fitting over time and can be used on its own or placed inside a backpack, messenger bag, or laptop bag. It can also serve as a simple dust cover when the keyboard isn’t being used.

The company also referenced its long history making Apple-specific cases. “WaterField Designs has been designing custom cases for popular Apple devices since 2001, when it first created its iconic PowerBook laptop SleeveCase, now available in over 100 custom sizes,” said company founder Gary Waterfield.

WaterField notes that the Neo Sleeve is custom-fitted for both Magic Keyboard sizes and is handcrafted in San Francisco. The top edge is reinforced with nylon tape to help prevent wear, and the neoprene’s tensile strength is intended to keep the sleeve from stretching out even with regular use.

Prices are $35 USD for the standard version and $37 USD for the 10-key model. The short sleeve weighs 2 oz and measures 11.5 inches long, while the longer version weighs 3 oz and measures 17 inches.
