Tesla Model Y Performance Orders Go Live in Canada

Tesla has officially launched Model Y Performance orders in Canada, giving buyers a faster, upgraded version of the company’s best-selling SUV. The catch for shoppers: both federal and provincial EV rebates are gone, meaning everything is full price (well, except in Quebec as you can get $4,000 off the Long Range).
The regular Model Y Long Range AWD starts at $64,990, while the new Model Y Performance comes in at $74,990 CAD (that’s actually cheaper than the US after exchange rates; the car is $57,490 US, which is about $81,000 CAD). Tesla lists an estimated 492 km of range, a 3.5-second 0–100 km/h time, and a 250 km/h top speed for the Performance trim. It also includes a long list of changes, including a redesigned exterior, a new performance powertrain, and an adaptive suspension system that adjusts based on speed, road conditions, and how aggressively you drive.
Tesla says the frame layout and wheel positioning help the Performance model stay stable when carving through sharp corners and long curves. The updated battery cells hold more energy per charge, which is how the SUV reaches its 492 km rating. The new adaptive suspension uses electronic continuously variable dampers (the standard Long Range uses frequency-dependent shocks), helping the vehicle stay planted at high speeds or on rough roads.
The exterior gets small aerodynamic updates such as reshaped front and rear fascias and a longer carbon spoiler to reduce drag. Inside, the cabin switches to handcrafted materials, vegan leather, carbon-fibre trim and sound-damping additions meant to keep the interior quieter. The front row features new heated and ventilated sport seats with added bolstering and powered thigh extenders, while the second row gets perforated, heated seats with power recline.
The Model Y Performance also includes a 16-inch QHD touchscreen, 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels, unique drive modes (including “Stability Assist,” which can increase or reduce traction), and a 15-speaker audio system with a subwoofer and ultra-wide-band support.
One quirk in Tesla’s current pricing structure: the Model 3 is still more expensive than every Model Y trim in Canada due to tariffs. The Model 3 Long Range now starts at $79,990, while the Model 3 Performance sits at $89,990, keeping the sedan above the SUV lineup. Those ordering with referral link can save $650 CAD off their next Tesla purchase. Other promos right now include 2.99% APR financing on select terms for Model Y.
An embargo for Model Y Performance reviews also lifted today, so YouTube is flooded with hands-on reviews:

I rather buy a BYD EV then an American car.
