OpenAI Turns Sora Into a Holiday Toy With New Themed Styles

OpenAI has released a new update for its AI video tool, Sora, adding a feature called Sora Styles. The update arrives just in time for the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend and lets users apply preset looks to their AI-generated videos.

The first six styles are Thanksgiving, Vintage, News, Selfie, Comic, and Anime. They give creators quick ways to change the tone or aesthetic of a clip without adjusting complicated settings.

Sora showed off the new feature, sharing a cartoon-style blue turkey puppet at a fake press conference, revealing the new styles in front of a fall-themed backdrop. The post also says that “more styles” will be added later.

Sora users on the web and iOS can try the feature by tapping the Styles button when creating a video. Each generated clip shows an on-screen label for the chosen style, and tapping it brings users back to the editor with the same preset already loaded.

Sora first launched in early 2024 as a text-to-video tool capable of producing one-minute clips with detailed motion and physics. By 2025, it had also become a social app for sharing AI-generated videos, and the release of Sora 2 in September improved realism and control. In Canada, the Sora app is available for both iOS and Android users.

The new Styles feature is meant to make video creation easier and more playful, whether for casual posts or professional projects. With Thanksgiving-themed visuals included in the first batch, the update arrives at a fitting time for U.S. holiday storytelling and prank videos.
