Telus Just Launched a New Unlimited 5G+ Plan for Black Friday

Telus has tweaked its Black Friday plans, reducing the price of its entry plan while also debuting an unlimited 5G+ offering.

Here are the Telus plans right now after autopay (bank pre-authorized payments) for bring your own device customers:

  • $60/100GB (was $70)
  • $75/200GB Canada-US
  • $105 Unlimited data 5G+ (new); 50GB mobile hotspot data
  • $105/250GB Global (68 destinations)
  • $60/60GB
  • $65/80GB
  • $20 talk and text

As you can see, the 100GB plan has dropped by $10 to $60. Now, there is also a $105/month plan offering unlimited data at 5G+ speeds with no throttling. This plan’s mobile hotspot data is limited to 50GB, which then sees its data throttled afterwards. So that means you’re forced to only use the unlimited 5G+ data on your smartphone beyond 50GB of tethering. You may be better off getting the $105/250GB global plan as there’s no 50GB hotspot limit. But the marketing sounds good for an unlimited data plan, right?

Here are the plans from Rogers and Bell as of today (nothing has changed):

Rogers

  • $70/60GB
  • $75/100GB
  • $85/200GB Canada-US
  • $105/250GB Global (64 destinations )

Bell

  • $70/60GB
  • $75/100GB
  • $85/200GB Canada-US
  • $105/250GB Global (65 destinations; was $95)

Right now, Telus undercuts Rogers and Bell by $10 on the 200GB plan. Bell added a 25GB bonus recently to bump up to 200GB, a move that was quickly matched by Rogers.

We may see further plan tweaks from flanker brands Fido, Koodo and Virgin Plus (and Public Mobile for prepaid) ahead of actual Black Friday, so stay tuned.
