Canada year in search google 2025.

Another day, and another year-end list coming your way. This time, Google has released its list of the top trending searches in Canada for 2025, highlighting the news events, people, and entertainment Canadians looked up most this year.

According to Google, the Blue Jays dominated national interest after making it to the World Series for the first time since 1993. Political searches were also huge, with “Canada election results” and “Trudeau resigns” among the most-searched terms of the year. Canadians followed international headlines too, including developments in Iran, new tariffs, the LA fires and the announcement of a new Pope.

In sports, the Blue Jays trend continued, with seven members of the starting lineup appearing among the top-searched athletes. Trey Yesavage led the category, while rising Canadian tennis player Victoria Mboko also made the list. On the political side, new Prime Minister Mark Carney was the most-searched person in the country.

Entertainment searches were all over the place. “Happy Gilmore 2” was the top trending movie, while horror titles like “Sinners,” “Weapons,” and “28 Years Later” also saw big search spikes. Pop culture favourites included Labubu, “6-7,” Kpop Demon Hunters, and “Love Island USA” Season 7.

Google’s top questions showed Canadians were focused on baseball, ongoing political stories, internet slang, and viral cultural moments. Searches ranged from “What time is the Jays game today?” to “What does 6-7 mean?” and “How do tariffs work?”
