Blue Jays Game 7 Fans Used More Data Than a Taylor Swift Concert

Rogers blue jays data.

Fans packed into the Rogers Centre for Game 7 of the World Series didn’t just set TV records—they also broke a stadium data record, according to the company.

Rogers said attendees used 7.5 terabytes of mobile data during the 11-inning game between the company’s Toronto Blue Jays and the victorious L.A. Dodgers, slightly more than the 7.4 TB used during Taylor Swift’s concert at the same venue last November. That’s roughly equal to uploading or sharing 3.7 million photos.

According to Rogers, more than 60% of that data was for downloads, with the rest being uploads. Nearly two-thirds of Rogers TV subscribers watched the game through Xfinity TV, and total data use across its home network topped 45,000 TB during the matchup.

Now, while there was a huge use of data, the company’s Sportsnet+ streaming service ran into issues and crashed out in the 6th inning of Game 7. Rogers had to toss up a free web link for paying customers to see the end of Game 7, which ended in heartbreak for Blue Jays fans. While the Blue Jays outplayed the Dodgers in the series when it came to runs, the L.A. team came up clutch at the end of Game 7 and won the championship title.

In other words: they are all morons who spent way too much to attend a game only to not even watch it with their own eyes.
