Apple Chip Leader Tells Staff He’s Staying Put After Exit Rumors

Apple’s chip chief Johny Srouji moved to calm speculation about his future on Monday, telling employees he intends to remain at the company despite recent reports that he was weighing a departure.

“I know you’ve been reading all kind of [rumours] and speculations about my future at Apple, and I feel that you need to hear from me directly,” Srouji wrote in a memo to his organization, obtained by Bloomberg. “I love my team, and I love my job at Apple, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.”

Over the weekend, Bloomberg reported that Srouji had floated the idea of leaving and had spoken with CEO Tim Cook about the possibility of moving to another tech firm. People familiar with the situation said Srouji had told Cook he was seriously considering stepping away.

“Together we enable the best products in the world,” said Srouji. Looks like Cook has calmed the waters and ensured Srouji won’t be leaving.

Apple, already navigating a wave of senior departures, had been pushing hard to keep Srouji, including offering a huge compensation package and discussing broader responsibilities for him in the future, according to those familiar with the talks.

Srouji has been central to Apple’s shift toward designing its own chips (Apple Silicon and more) and oversees several core hardware efforts across the company. In his message to employees, he said he remained energized by the work ahead, highlighting the teams building displays, cameras, sensors, chips and batteries.
