iOS Drove 35% of Mobile Internet Traffic in 2025
According to the latest Cloudflare Radar Year in Review, Apple finished the year in third place among all internet services worldwide, demonstrating the continued reach of its platforms and services.
The annual report, compiled by Cloudflare from data across its extensive global network, measures service popularity by analyzing web request patterns. It highlights how different companies’ services rank based on usage, with Apple maintaining a position just behind industry giants like Google and Meta platforms.
Over the course of the year, Apple briefly traded places with Microsoft in the rankings, but ultimately ended 2025 firmly in the number three spot. TikTok, once among the most trafficked services, slid to tenth by the end of the year amid regulatory and competitive pressures.
A defining theme of the Cloudflare report is the enormous scale of mobile internet traffic and the roles played by the dominant mobile operating systems. In 2025, iOS devices were responsible for 35% of global mobile device traffic, marking a modest increase from the previous year and signaling growing engagement from Apple’s user base around the world.
Android devices continued to generate the majority of mobile traffic at roughly 65%, reflecting the platform’s extensive adoption across diverse markets and price points.
The distribution of mobile traffic by operating system varied greatly by region. In affluent markets like Monaco, iOS captured as much as 70% of mobile web requests. Conversely, in many developing countries such as Papua New Guinea, Sudan, Malawi, Bangladesh, and Ethiopia, Android devices accounted for more than 90% of mobile traffic.
Beyond mobile operating system trends, the Cloudflare report paints a picture of an expanding global internet. Overall traffic grew by nearly 19% in 2025, driven in part by greater connectivity and increasing digital engagement in regions around the world.
For Apple, finishing third in these rankings underscores how deeply its devices and services are integrated into everyday web usage. The strong contribution of iOS traffic highlights the continued relevance of iPhones and iPads not just as consumer devices but as major sources of global web requests.
