Amazon has announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming services are expanding into the latest Fire TV models. Owners of the new Fire TV 4 models and Fire TV Omni QLED series TVs can find the Xbox app available right out of the box.
“Play blockbuster titles including multiple award-nominated games, directly from on your Fire TV with the Xbox app,” Amazon says in a blog post. The Xbox app allows users to sync up a compatible controller with their TV and play available titles from Xbox Game Pass without the need for a console, streaming stick or other accessories.
The Xbox app was initially available across all current-generation Fire TV 4K streaming devices, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and Fire TV Cube. However, the latest expansion brings Xbox Cloud Gaming to the Fire TV 4 series and Fire TV Omni QLED models. When available, players can sign in with their Microsoft account and subscribe to an Xbox Game Pass if they are not already a member. Once active, all available Xbox Game Pass titles will be playable straight from the app via the cloud.
With Amazon’s support of the Xbox app, users can also leverage Alexa+ when wanting to play a game. Users can say, “Alexa, open Xbox app” to launch the Xbox app and begin playing right away.
Xbox Cloud Gaming support on Fire TV is available in 29 countries, including Canada. Recently, the service was expanded onto Amazon’s smart TVs in India and Brazil.
In Canada, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is available for $33.99 per month. Though the service now starts at $13.99 CAD per month, with its Essential tier, which supports Xbox Cloud Gaming.
