Rogers Wants Your Old Hockey Jersey and There’s a Big Prize Involved

Rogers has launched a new hockey-themed project called “The Great Canadian Jersey”, asking Canadians to donate old hockey jerseys that will be turned into custom patchwork designs.
The campaign invites fans to drop off jerseys from any level of the game (time to revive your crusty beer league jersey), including minor hockey, beer leagues, or professional teams. Donated jerseys will be cut up and stitched together into one-of-a-kind designs created by Cameron Lizotte, a former OHL player who is now a fashion designer. Rogers says the finished jerseys will be worn by top Canadian hockey players and used as part of a national advertising campaign.
The launch comes ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics next month in Italy, where Team Canada has a stacked roster of NHL stars, including Connor McDavid and more.
The donation drive kicked off with help from Rogers-sponsored athletes McDavid and Marie-Philip Poulin, captain of the Montreal Victoire. Both players donated jerseys from their personal collections at events held in Edmonton and Montreal.
Alongside the jersey project, Rogers is also running a national contest tied to the campaign. Canadians who donate a jersey can enter for a chance to win a VIP hockey road trip during the 2025–26 NHL season. There is also a free entry option for those who do not want to donate a jersey, which involves mailing in a photo of a jersey along with a short written description of what it means to them.
The contest runs from January 5 to January 15, 2026, and is open to Canadian residents aged 13 and older. One winner will be selected by random draw on January 23, 2026.
The prize includes 2 tickets to a regular-season game played by a Canadian NHL team, round-trip economy flights for two from a Canadian airport, two nights at a hotel near the game location, and two official NHL jerseys from a Canadian team of the winner’s choice. The total prize value is estimated at about $5,000.
The completed patchwork jerseys are expected to be revealed later this month and will be featured as part of Rogers hockey marketing push.
