Chrome 150 to be the Last Update to Support macOS Monterey

Google has announced that the Chrome 150 browser software update will be the last to support macOS Monterey. Arriving later this year, Chrome 150 and subsequent updates will require Macs to run more recent software to ensure stability.

The company made the announcement via a status update. Here, Google states that Mac devices running macOS Monterey will still be able to use Chrome 150, but will display a “warning infobar.” Google also states that while Chrome will continue to work on macOS Monterey, users will not be able to update the browser software any further.

Instead, Google will soon require Mac users to update their computer to a newer version of macOS that will support installations of Chrome 151 and beyond. This includes the installation of macOS 13 and above.

There has been no firm announcement on when Chrome 150 will be released. However, the browser software is now sitting at Chrome 143. Google typically releases a new version of Chrome every four weeks. Therefore, Chrome 150 should be arriving around the halfway mark of 2026.

If you are still running your Mac on macOS Monterey and want to avoid any stability issues while using Chrome, it may be best to use this time to update to a newer version of macOS. Alternatively, users can switch to another browser that still supports macOS Monterey, such as Firefox.
