LEGO Finally Reveals Pokémon Sets and Prices Hit $900 in Canada

LEGO and Pokémon announced their first-ever LEGO Pokémon sets on Monday, marking the first time Pokémon characters will be available as full LEGO builds. Both companies previously announced in March of last year new sets were coming, and now we have our first glimpse of what’s in store.
The new LEGO Pokémon sets will launch on February 27, and are based on some of the franchise’s most recognizable characters. The initial lineup includes Pikachu, Eevee, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, all recreated in LEGO brick form and designed mainly as display models for older fans.
Now, these sets come at premium prices, ranging up to an eye-popping $900 in Canada before taxes.
One of the headline sets features Pikachu jumping out of a Poké Ball. The 2,050-piece build priced at $269.99 in Canada includes a display base with lightning effects and a small “25” detail referencing Pikachu’s Pokédex number. The model can be posed in different positions, including a seated pose with the Poké Ball closed.

Another large set combines Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise into a single display. With more than 6,800 pieces, it is one of LEGO’s largest display sets and recreates the three final evolutions of the original Kanto starter Pokémon. Each Pokémon can be displayed on its own or together on a shared base. The pricing in Canada is even higher at $899.99 CAD.

There is also a smaller Eevee set with just under 600 pieces, the cheapest entry at $84.99 CAD. The Eevee model includes movable parts and is designed to be posed in different positions.
“As a lifelong Pokémon fan, it’s been an incredible honor to help bring these Pokémon to life in LEGO brick form for the first time,” said Siddharth Muthyala, Design Director on LEGO Pokémon.
“By combining Pokémon’s sense of adventure with the thoughtful design and attention to detail of the LEGO Group, we’re giving fans the chance to build, play, and tell their own stories in ways they’ve never experienced before,” added Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International.
Pre-orders for the LEGO Pokémon sets begin today, January 12, through LEGO and Pokémon retail channels. If you want cheaper Pokémon block toys, check out MEGA sets on Amazon.ca as they start from $17.
