Freedom Mobile Basically Admits Its App is Bad with This New Job Posting

Freedom Mobile storefront in Canada

If you have been frustrated with the Freedom Mobile app lately, some much-needed changes might finally be coming. The carrier recently posted a job opening for a Team Lead of Digital Apps in Toronto, and the description basically admits what frustrated customers have been saying for years: the digital side of the business needs a major tune-up.

For anyone who has tried to pay a bill or change a plan on the go, you know the struggle. The current app often feels more like a slow website stuffed into a mobile frame rather than a real, polished application. This setup makes it incredibly sluggish. It is also famous for forgetting your login info and lacking basic features like Face ID and other biometric logins.

Other issues users have faced include trouble making a payment in the current app, as it sometimes can crash or freeze right at checkout.

The new job posting that went live last week specifically looks for someone to oversee the stability and performance of their mobile apps and customer portals. Freedom wants this new lead to hunt down recurring bugs and stop the constant lagging that has plagued the My Account experience.

The new role focuses heavily on making sure these digital platforms are actually secure and reliable so users do not have to worry about their personal info. Many customers have wanted to move away from 4-digit PINs and text-based 2FA.

How do you like the Freedom Mobile app on iOS and Android? What fixes are needed?

It's not even an app. It's just a wrapper for their website. I found it was better to just bookmark their website instead of using the app. At least in Safari you can use autofill so you don't have to type in your phone number every time.
