iPhone Air 2 Reportedly Coming in 2026
Fixed Focus Digital, a well-known leaker on Weibo, has claimed that Apple is actually moving ahead with a second-generation iPhone Air for a release later this year. This contradicts several high-profile reports from late 2025 that suggested the device had been pushed back to 2027 (via MacRumors).
According to the latest leak, the iPhone Air 2 will not be a massive redesign. Instead, it is being described as a “routine upgrade” with very minor changes. This suggests that Apple might be treating the Air line similarly to the standard iPhone or the now-defunct Plus models.
The leaker noted that feedback from the production line still points to a fall launch. If this holds true, we could see the iPhone Air 2 debut alongside the iPhone 18 lineup this September. This would be a surprise to many, as Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously suggested that Apple never intended to put the Air on an annual release schedule.
The tech world is, however, currently split on what to believe. On one side, outlets like The Information have reported that Apple wanted to take more time to fix the “weak points” of the first-gen Air. Critics of the current device often point to its single rear camera, smaller battery, and higher price tag as reasons why it hasn’t flown off the shelves.
Some rumors suggested that a delayed 2027 version would feature a dual-camera setup and a more efficient 2-nanometer chip to solve battery life issues. However, if Fixed Focus Digital is correct, Apple may have decided that keeping the product visible in the market is more important than waiting for a total overhaul.
If the iPhone Air 2 does arrive this fall, it will likely feature the new A20 chip, which is expected to power the entire iPhone 18 family. We might also see small improvements to the display brightness or thermal management, but don’t expect a second camera lens or a dramatic change in thickness just yet.
