New Trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Shows First Look at Yoshi

This weekend, Nintendo held a Direct livestream to show off the brand new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. In the new look at the upcoming film, we’re given the first look at Yoshi and brand new clips of the movie.

Fan-favourite character Yoshi is central to the brand new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The short new trailer shows Mario and Luigi exploring a dark cavern, met only by green dino himself. From there, we’re shown many short clips of the movie, including Yoshi coming face-to-face with a giant T. rex.

In the trailer, we also got our first look at Birdo, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi.

This trailer was a part of  Nintendo’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct. Held on Sunday, the short five-minute live stream saw famed game designer Shigeru Miyamoto give audiences a crash course in Yoshi before throwing it to the trailer. CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri, also shared some words during the live stream.

Meledandri confirms that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has now entered post-production. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is due to open in theatres on April 1st, two days earlier than originally slated.

The film stars Chris Pratt, who once again voices Mario. Anya Taylor-Joy also returns as Peach with Charlie Day as Luigi. Jack Black is back as Bowser alongside Keegan-Michael Key’s Toad. The film welcomes newcomers Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Brie Larson, who voices Rosalina.
