Toronto to Become Global Gaming Hub in 2026 as Two Major Events Team Up

The Canadian Game Awards and XP Game Summit are officially teaming up. Starting in 2026, the big awards gala will move to May to run alongside the summit in Toronto.

Canada’s gaming scene is a massive $5.1 billion industry, and this partnership is designed to put a brighter spotlight on the people making our favourite games. By hosting the awards during the summit, the organizers are making sure international developers and investors already in town for business get a front-row seat to see the best of what Canada is producing.

It’s not just for the industry pros, though. The event will also include the “Eh! Game Showcase,” where fans can actually play Canadian-made titles, discover new games, and meet the developers in person.

“Holding the Awards alongside XP Game Summit builds on what the Canadian Game Awards have always been about,” said Carl-Edwin Michel, creator and Executive Producer of the Canadian Game Awards, in a statement to iPhone in Canada on Tuesday. “It gives creators the recognition they deserve and keeps the focus on the games themselves through both the Awards and the Eh! Game Showcase.”

Last year, the XP Game Summit brought in people from over 350 companies across 18 countries. Jason Lepine, CEO of XP Gaming, noted that the world already comes to Toronto to do business, so it only makes sense to celebrate the industry’s biggest achievements at the same time.

“Partnering with the Canadian Game Awards helps show the world the depth of our industry and gives everyone a chance to celebrate it together,” added Lepine.

Specific dates and ticket info for the 2026 show will be released in the next few months. The joint partnership means for gaming fans, you now have one huge week to go hands-on with the best in the industry.
