iPhone 17e Leaks: A19 Chip and Same $899 Canadian Price Rumoured
Apple is gearing up for some big product launches to start 2026, with several new devices expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is preparing to refresh its entry-level iPhone, iPads, and high-end MacBooks as part of an aggressive push into new markets.
New iPhone 17e and iPad Refreshes
The iPhone 17e is expected to debut imminently, replacing last year’s iPhone 16e. People familiar with the matter say the new budget model will feature the A19 chip found in the flagship iPhone 17, along with MagSafe charging and Apple’s first in-house wireless chips.
Sources indicate Apple plans to keep the price at $599 US ($899 in Canada), targeting enterprise customers and emerging economies where competition from Google and Samsung has cooled.
The iPad lineup is also set for a refresh. Sources are telling Gurman that the entry-level iPad will move to the A18 chip to support Apple Intelligence for the first time. This is a big finally and it sucks for existing iPad (12th gen) users who lack support for Apple Intelligence as they have the A16 chip (on sale right now on Amazon.ca for 14% off).
The iPad Air is scheduled to receive the M4 processor, while the iPad mini is expected to finally transition to an OLED screen. Apple’s iPad lineup sure could use some simplifying, between the Pros, iPad, iPad Air and iPad mini.
Mac Updates and Software Timeline
Apple’s Mac roadmap for the first half of the year is equally busy. Gurman reports that new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, along with a MacBook Air powered by the M5 chip, are coming shortly. A redesigned, low-cost MacBook with an iPhone-class processor is also planned to compete with Chromebooks.
Hardware availability suggests a launch could happen as early as the week of March 2. On the software side, Apple is expected to release the first developer beta of iOS 26.4 the week of February 23, which will reportedly include the first major components of the new Siri chatbot interface.
Looking further ahead, sources familiar with Apple’s plans say the company is developing its first foldable iPhone (we can only imagine the cost) and a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro for later in the year.
