Threads ‘Dear Algo’ Feature Launches to Let You Control the Algorithm

Meta is rolling out a new AI feature for Threads called “Dear Algo,” designed to give users temporary control over what appears in their feed.
The feature allows users to manually influence the algorithm by making specific requests for the types of content they want to see more or less of for a short period.
To use the feature, you simply create a public Threads post starting with the phrase “Dear Algo,” followed by your specific request. For example, a user could post, “Dear Algo, show me more posts about podcasts.”

Once the post is shared, the Threads algorithm will adjust your feed based on that request for three days. Not sure if there will be options to make the requests permanent though.
What’s interesting is that these “Dear Algo” requests are also shareable. If you see another user who has a feed style you like, you can repost their “Dear Algo” request. Doing so applies their specific content preferences to your own feed for the three-day window.
The feature is currently available to users in the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia. Meta says it plans to expand the tool to more countries, including Canada, in the future. So stay tuned…
